IAML-IAMIC-IMS Conference: June 18-23, 2006. Goteborg, Sweden

American Theological Library Association: June 21-24, Chicago, IL

Thanks to everyone who visited us at booth 306, and to all who attended the Women in the Historical Profession reception and the Women and Social Movements breakfast.  Stephanie Gilmore and Andrea Eastman-Mullins talked about the new scholarly community associated with Women and Social Movements, "The Second Wave and Beyond."  If you haven't yet seen the site, be sure to check it out!

Our first year at PLA: March 22-24,Boston, MA

We had an amazing time at PLA.  We spoke with hundreds of librarians about Music Online for Public Libraries.  Our event with Ella Jenkins was a huge success--nearly 500 librarians came to hear her sing (and to sing along with her!).  Click here to see a picture of Ella with Eileen Lawrence, vice president of sales and marketing for Alexander Street.

We look forward to attending again next year.

Isabel Lacerda enjoyed meeting with everyone at the conference, and talking about  Latino Literature, Latin American Women Writers, Black Women Writers, and other Alexander Street products.

Jenni Wilson (Sales Manager) and Teisha McKie (one of the music editors responsible for our newest music listening service, African American Song) represented Alexander Street Press.  Thanks to all who stopped by to learn more about our  music products.

MLA: February 22 - 25, Memphis, TN

We had a great time at MLA this year.  We handed out samples of music from our music products, and we gave away a set of CDs featuring music from Smithsonian Global Sound for Libraries.

To those who attended the breakfast, we hope that you enjoyed hearing Michael Taft speak!

We had a very successful show at ALA Midwinter.  We talked about our newest products (African American Song, which debuted at ALA; African American Music Reference; Social Theory; Black Women Writers; Publications on the Status of Women; and In the First Person PLUS, among others) against the backdrop of our brand new booth.  

Thanks to all who attended our customer breakfast.  We hope that you enjoyed hearing Olive Senior speak as much as we did!  Thank you also to those who attended Stephen Rhind-Tutt's presentation at the Technology Showcase.  

We look forward to seeing everyone at ALA in New Orleans.

This was our first year at the AAR conference, which we attended shortly after acquiring the Ad Fontes company.  We enjoyed talking about our plans for our religion products.

We were in booth number 5 at the ASTR conference, and we had a very successful show.  We enjoyed speaking with everyone who visited our booth.

We gave attendees information on how to access Oral History Online for one month.  We also talked about Black Thought and Culture, North American Immigrant Letters and Diaries, In the First Person, and our other history databases.

The Charleston Conference: November 2-5, 2005, Charleston, SC

Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth - and to all who attended our two juried product development forums: "Music to your ears: Is Alexander Street's music program on the right track" and "New pricing model - FREE! In the First Person: Index to Letters, Diaries, Oral Histories, and Narratives." We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to interact with you and hear your ideas.

Tim Lloyd, Division President of Music and Video, presented to the NFAIS Humanities Roundtable: October 14, 2005

The 2005 NFAIS Humanities Roundtable followed the full product life cycle - from determining the needs of the individual user through to the deployment of the information resource within the library environment. Attendees left with a better understanding of how to provide must-have information resources to humanists by investigating every step of the product life cycle:

• The needs of the users
• Approaches for developing different types of content resources
• Enhancing the findability of the content
• Marketing the content to the purchaser
• Marketing the content to the user
• Other issues

Tim's presentation, specifically, addressed the issue of maximizing the awareness of humanities information products and services without breaking the bank on marketing expenditures. He explained how we have increased the visibility of our products, and how we have leveraged technology to broaden the appeal of humanities information.
